Biography: The music of Jared Hedges has been performed throughout the United States and in Canada by musicians such as the JACK Quartet, NOTUS, and the rogue collective. His pieces have received awards from the Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the Holland Symphony Orchestra, the Music Institute of Chicago, and Webster University. In 2016 his song cycle "Nellie Bly at Blackwell’s Island" was a finalist for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Art Song Composition Competition, and was featured at the inaugural 2014 Source Song Festival. Hedges holds degrees in music composition and English literature from Bethel University (St. Paul, Minnesota), and a master’s degree in composition from the University of Iowa. He has studied composition with Jonathan Veenker, Josh Levine, Nomi Epstein, and David Gompper.
