Biography: Hong Liang Ng is a Malaysian pianist currently pursuing D.M.A. studies in collaborative piano at North Dakota State University, Fargo. He studies under the direction of Dr. Tyler Wottrich while accompanying students and ensembles as a graduate assistant. He has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout his academic career, and also involved in several opera productions.

As a collaborative pianist, he is involved in NDSU’s Chamber Music Festival in 2018 and collaborated with world renowned performers such as violinist Grace Park, cellist Paul Wiancko, and mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski. He also performed in Minnesota's Song Source Festival in 2016 where he participated in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed professors such as Arlene Shrut, Martin Katz, and Olivier Godin.

Hong Liang is passionate and enthusiastic toward opera productions. He is involved in several professional productions such as Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers, and Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel produced by Fargo-Moorhead Opera. He joined Bayview Music Festival as one of the piano fellows for their 2019 mainstage opera production Die Zauberflöte by Mozart. He is also actively involved in university productions as repetiteur such as Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Copland’s The Tenderland.

Source Moment: My favorite Source experience is that everyone in the festival emanates positive energy and supportive attitude toward each other, that helped my confidence a lot in making music with my partner in Source, Kristine Phillips. I am appreciative of everyone I have met from Source, and the opportunities that are given to me to continue my passionate in pursuing my craft.
