Biography: Benton Schmidt is a keyboard artist of diverse interests. Having studied the piano most of his life, he picked up the pipe organ during a Summer break and gradually fell in love with a whole new world of repertoire. Collaborative music-making has always been a joy for him, whether accompanying singers in art song, or conducting church choirs. Schmidt holds a BM in Piano Performance from North Dakota State University, and is now earning his Masters in Sacred Music with Organ at the University of Notre Dame. From 2017-2019, Benton served as music director of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD. His main interests are attempting to play the complete works of J. S. Bach before the age of 90 and teaching Gregorian chant to anyone who will listen.
