Biography: Alexander Woods is a pianist and musical collaborator living in the Twin Cities. He completed his master's degree in Collaborative Piano and Coaching at the University of Minnesota, and bachelor's degrees in Music and Religious Studies at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. He enjoys performing a wide variety of collaborative repertoire, spanning everything from art song to choral music to chamber works. Woods is also an experienced jazz and popular musician, and actively seeks to incorporate a variety of styles and genres in his performances. In the Twin Cities, he accompanies regularly at area competitions, provides liturgical music at local churches, plays jazz gigs, and has performed with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra and St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral Orchestra. He also serves as a staff collaborative pianist at the Borromeo Music Festival in Altdorf, Switzerland. Woods was the recipient of the Ronald Rydell Fellowship in Accompanying and Coaching at the University of Minnesota, and the McCord Memorial Grant at Pomona College, which funded summer music study at several festivals. His primary teachers include Timothy Lovelace, Lydia Artymiw, Genevieve Lee, and Ming Tsu.
